The reason for building a list is so that you can establish an ongoing relationship through email with customers, business builders AND all those other people that said ‘No, Not Right Now’ to your product or business opportunity, but still are interested in connecting with you in the future.
The pieces required to build a basic list include:
A Landing Page ==> An Autoresponder ==> A Welcome Page
Let’s start with the Landing Page.
What Is A Landing Page And How To Get One Free
So let’s look at exactly what is a landing page (also known as a capture page or squeeze page) and you may be surprised how simple they actually are to create!
What Is A Landing Page: Background
Here is the definition of a landing page according to Wikipedia:
“In online marketing a landing page, sometimes known as a ‘lead capture page’, is a single web page that appears in response to clicking on a search engine optimized search result or an online advertisement. The landing page will usually display directed sales copy that is a logical extension of the advertisement, search result or link.”
The purpose of a landing page is to capture the information of your prospect and provide them with exactly what they are looking for (your product, business, etc). Typically you “capture” a name and email address. Know that the more information you request, the less likely a visitor is to enter their information. An email address alone will get you higher percentage of optins, however consider your strategy…
Do you want to capture as many emails as possible and simply market to them through your emails? Or would you be better served by gathering a prospects name, email and even phone so you can build a more personable relationship with them. I have done both in my list building.
Personally, I would rather have a smaller list of very targeted leads and begin to build a relationship by providing value. On my optin for example, I have name, email (required) and phone (optional). Those who enter their phone have proved to be VERY interested in what you have and are literally saying, “call me!” So make sure you are calling your leads too, most people never do.
What Is A Landing Page: Autoresponder
Now that you have an understanding of what a landing page is, you will also need an email autoresponder service. There are many services to choose from and I have used a couple; for online business builders and marketers, I really like Aweber. You can pick up a 30 day trial for only $1.00 by clicking right here. They also have an 800 number for customer service and can walk you through any technical questions you may have.
An email autoresponder is the software that actually captures the email and stores it for you. It is typically a sequence of emails that automatically go out to subscribers when they optin. You can also do “broadcast” emails to your list that are initiated by you on an as needed basis. Example: You have a new blog post and want to send it out to your list.
